Let's take a look at the faithful,
Full of faith…were they;
They saw all God had promised,
But, it was not for their day.
Still, they believed and their actions,
Told of that belief;
They remained faithful to our God,
In spite of hardship and grief.
Sawed in half and torn asunder,
Denied our God…not;
Persecuted for His name's sake,
Some…with the bow were shot.
We tend to see only the present,
Want things instant and quick;
The things that happen in our lives,
We want to be able to pick.
Still, there's a higher calling,
That God has for man;
To purpose in their hearts,
To adhere to His plan.
God has a far-off vision,
Calling things that are not, as though they were;
Sees the end…from the beginning,
From this, He'll not be deterred.
So, do we want to be a part of,
What our God has planned;
Or do we want to struggle on,
Follow the schemes of man?
It's a high and lofty vision,
Our Father has for us;
One with purpose and meaning,
But, in Him…we must trust.
Can we…as faithful Abraham,
Lean not on our own understanding;
But, believe all our Father speaks,
Go with all that He is planning?
Faith is the substance of things hoped for,
The evidence of things not yet seen;
Not presumption and foolishness,
Schemes…devised by cunning man.
To walk with the faithful,
Requires a deep trust;
In all our Father is trying,
So very much…to teach to us.
And, what is so amazing,
Is that it's not even our faith;
It's the faith of the Son of God,
That comes with…new birth.
We'll walk…without seeing,
The end from the beginning;
Entirely on Christ Jesus,
We shall be leaning.
Like the patriarchs of old,
Who saw not…but still following;
Faithful we shall be (JESUS inside),
And, our faith…continually growing!
