Deuteronomy 31:6 “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."
7 Then Moses summoned Joshua and said to him in the presence of all Israel, "Be strong and courageous, for you must go with this people into the land that the LORD swore to their forefathers to give them, and you must divide it among them as their inheritance.
8 The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged."

Joshua 1:5 “No one will be able to stand up against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.” (NIV)

Are you lost…in deepest darkness,
The sun no longer shines;
You’re in a deep pit…down there,
Yes, and everything declines?

Perhaps your health is failing,
You’re physically and mentally bankrupt;
Right down there…on the bottom,
Your life’s on hold…disrupt.

Old age creeping up,
Slow at first…but now it’s gaining;
It overtakes each one of us,
The battle of old age…and now it’s winning.

A loved-one snatched from you,
In the prime of their life;
One who was so close to you,
Perhaps a husband or a wife.

Or maybe it’s your finances,
You were never rich…but now you’re poor;
In spite of careful planning,
Your future now…unsure.

Children who were once a joy,
Are now…so alienated;
We try so hard…so very hard,
Parenthood is highly over-rated.

Or a marriage that was so perfect,
But now…it has grown sour;
Problems…like weeds…they grow,
Thistles…where once were flowers.

Life isn’t all that we had planned,
Oft times…things go amiss;
Hard times…they come and go,
Few days are total bliss.

Surely, they cannot last forever;
Still…they go on and on,
In spite of all our endeavors.

We could wear a mask of Pollyanna,
Pretend everything is just fine;
But, we wouldn’t fool anyone,
Everything would still be an uphill climb.

In spite of all around us,
The good things and the bad;
We do have a blessed hope,
And, of this…we can rejoice and be glad.

For we have a promise,
It stands strong…and it is sure;
In spite of all the problems,
There is One who will endure.

He’s promised…in His Word,
To never leave…nor to forsake;
His promises…He will not break.

‘Tis said it’s always darkest,
Right before the dawn;
Hold on…firmly to His promises,
And, walk out…into that bright, new morn!
