We've often heard…it has been said,
That what we sow…we reap;
For what goes out, must soon return,
And these things, we shall keep.
Sometimes deeds and actions show,
What we have inside;
Would we have the world to see,
Things we want to hide?
What of hasty words spoken,
With malice and with hate;
Words we'd never let escape,
Had we taken time to wait?
Words go out…no taking back,
If only that we could;
Be quick to hear and slow to speak,
Words carefully chosen…good.
And, when we hear words that cut,
Words that sting and bind;
Let us return with gentle words,
Life-giving words and kind.
For all that's evil in this world,
Can be overcome by good;
Decide today, the path you'll take,
Let evil be withstood.
