I AM BLESSED!

(MY TESTIMONY...SET TO RHYME)

Matthew 5:3-12

"The Beatitudes"

************

I am blessed…yes, I am,
In this life…every day;
Blessed to know that Father loves me,
He shows me in so many ways!

From the day that I was born,
Born prematurely…’tis true;
Born at home…there to stay,
Little hope...but still…I grew.

Through the rigors of my parents' divorce,
Separated from all I loved;
Still, Father was there for me,
Showered His blessings…from above.

His hand upon my life,
Protection in each step I take;
In times of near-disaster,
His presence known to me…He makes.

I am blessed…yes, I am,
In this life…every day;
Blessed to know that Father loves me,
He shows me in so many ways!

There were times…yes, quite a few,
When life dealt me a rough blow;
That’s when He sent people (angels unaware),
And, through them…His love, He showed.

Many near-misses…calamities,
As I went along the way;
That’s how I learned to talk to Him,
That’s how I learned to pray.

Those times of communication,
How very precious…to me;
Talking with the Creator of the universe,
So special…special as can be.

I am blessed…yes, I am,
In this life…every day;
Blessed to know that Father loves me,
He shows me in so many ways!

And, to think He sent a help-mate,
One to walk this path with me;
To share the ups and the downs,
A faithful husband…he.

Many children…we were blessed with,
Our cup did overflow;
Still, the times were trying times,
Closer to Father…causing us to grow.

All part of His purpose,
And, all…a part of His plan;
Such a loving, heavenly Father,
Still, He had more for this woman and man.

I am blessed…yes, I am,
In this life…every day;
Blessed to know that Father loves me,
He shows me in so many ways!

Life’s struggles…almost more than we could bear,
We all have them…just different ones;
Yes, these times of desperation,
Bring us to a place of complete…undone.

No matter what your situation,
Where life has dealt its blow;
All that happens…is for a reason,
The reason…farther along we’ll know.

Ultimately…we see His hand,
As down life’s road we go;
He reaches out…with JESUS,
Now, His great LOVE…we can know.

I am blessed…yes, I am,
In this life…every day;
Blessed to know that Father loves me,
He shows me in so many ways!

Drawn to our heavenly Father,
His pardon…for our sin;
Paid in full…restitution,
In Christ Jesus…we all win.

Our life transformed,
Sin has lost its hold;
A new creature IN Christ,
Now, His plan we see…unfold.

His life lived-out through us,
No longer I…but Christ within;
We’re free to do His will,
No longer held back by sin.

I am blessed…yes, I am,
In this life…every day;
Blessed to know that Father loves me,
He shows me in so many ways!

Children growing up now,
As the years go rushing past;
Hard to believe they once were small,
Harder to believe…nothing, forever lasts.

Still, in spite of all our planning,
One day they move away;
To begin lives of their own,
Our babies…they could not stay.

They’ll have their own experiences,
Probably learn the hard way…too;
God has no “Grandchildren”,
With them…He will start anew.

I am blessed…yes, I am,
In this life…every day;
Blessed to know that Father loves me,
He shows me in so many ways!

Now, here we are again,
My husband and I…alone;
The commitment to “family” completed,
Now, we are on our own.

The love we had so long ago,
Is it still there…after life’s battles?
Was it strong enough to endure,
All the ups and downs…the squabbles?

We find…to our amazement,
A deeper, richer, stronger love;
For Father God used it all,
Exchanged our love…for His great LOVE.

I am blessed…yes, I am,
In this life…every day;
Blessed to know that Father loves me,
He shows me in so many ways!

Grandchildren and Great-grands…are a blessing,
(Although God has none of His own);
They provide us with a second chance,
We’ll do better with them…than we before had known.

The time…the energy…experience,
That we lacked in our younger days;
Are now theirs for the taking,
Not the “work” now…but the “play”.

And, they give back to us so very much,
Our youth…we see through their eyes;
They make us young again,
Our youth restored (almost)…brought nigh.

I am blessed…yes, I am,
In this life…every day;
Blessed to know that Father loves me,
He shows me in so many ways!

Retirement now looms ahead,
With it’s advantages and challenge;
God’s always provided for us,
So, no reason now to disparage.

Income…Father has no limit,
Of our health…He’s in full control;
We’ve learned how to trust Him,
He’s constantly watching…to patrol and console.

Whatever happens in our later years,
We’ll thank Him and we’ll praise Him;
For He has blessed us…doubly-blessed us,
And, all glory belongs to Him!
