Rev. 3:20 "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me."

My LORD, He stood there…knocking,
Gently…for thirty-one years;
He knew my pain and suffering,
Wanted to remove all my fears.

But, I was…Oh, so full of pride,
Thought I needed nobody;
My life…utter confusion.
Still…I'd not accept charity.

But, charity means LOVE,
And, we all need more of that;
The cure for social ills,
Yet, I'd refused it…flat!

There comes a time in all our lives,
When we admit we cannot do it;
An ending to self-effort,
We have reached our limit.

No longer are we able,
To count upon our abilities;
Our resources all depleted,
No more possibilities.

Our friends…all deserted,
Whom can we now trust?
Who is…out there…for us,
When our life has gone abust?

Now that we are quiet,
And, that gentle knocking…hear;
All we need do is open,
That door and let JESUS draw near.

He is…Oh, so willing,
For this cause…He came;
So willing…with us to sup,
He calls us…by our name.

Opening that door,
I invite Him…in;
Now, He shall never leave me,
This new life…now begins.

Old things have passed away,
All things become new; (2Cor.5:17)
JESUS has done it all,
He's come to my rescue.

Thank You, JESUS…for being there,
All of those many years;
A Gentleman…always waiting,
Until I would listen…hear!
