Luke 2:9 "And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."

There's a reason for the season,
Can you tell me what it is:
Has the reason been lost…somehow,
Watered-down with commercialism?

When did the blight set in,
Eroding away our values;
So subtle…we were unaware,
As we began to collect our bobbles.

I'll get you something special,
Worth a whole month's pay;
And, if your gift is worth less than mine,
Our relationship…I'll have to weigh.

Where have the days gone,
When we were little kids;
And, by our own hands fashioned,
Created…treasured, home-made gifts?

Those little gifts were forever kept,
Little treasures stored in chests…by the receiver;
Brought out…years later,
And, now a work of art…a parent's memorabelia.

Those were different times…we say,
But, is "different" any better?
I think not…because something has been lost,
We've settled for the inferior.

How can we turn this thing around,
Go back to yesterday's values?
When things were simplier,
And, brotherly love reigning supreme…continues.

Now, isn't love the greatest gift,
Does it cost us much to give it?
Is it packaged-up…bottled-up and sold,
Or, from the heart of the one who gives it?

There was a Gift that was very costly,
Cost God all He had;
But, He gladly gave…from the heart,
Nothing more…He could add.

Sometimes we've even taken this Gift,
Layed it upon a fancy manger;
With porcelain figurines gathered 'round,
Safely on a shelf…out of reach and out of danger.

But, have we caught the significance,
Of the Christ-child…in our hearts;
Have we made a home for Him…there,
The greatest of all God's gifts?

Emmanuel…God with us,
And, truly He is and shall stay;
The greatest of all Gifts,
Birthed to us…on Christmas Day.

JESUS is the reason for this season,
This special time of the year;
Let's remember…ourselves and pass it on,
Amidst this season of good cheer.

This is the Gift you can't get enough of,
And, it always keeps on giving;
Never grows old…only gets better,
He, forever makes your life worth living.

So, give Him away…to those you love,
Happily He'll be received;
Our lives made anew…He'll do it for you,
Brand-new…everything changed!
