To serve the LORD is a blessing,
In whatever capacity;
All that is done to glorify Him,
Being all that you can be.
For He’s given many talents,
Many…and varied are they;
We’re to bloom where we are planted,
To do His will…each day.
Perhaps we’re a mighty prayer warrior,
He hears and answers each prayer;
A builder of our faith,
When He shows just how much He cares.
Or…maybe we work in soup kitchens,
From earliest dawn…to dusk;
The line outside grows longer,
As the poor…on our LORD…must trust.
We care for the sick…the elderly,
They depend on us for so much;
With helping hands and cheerfulness,
Brightening their day…as such.
A gifted singer…leader in praise,
The voice of an angel…we’ve been given;
Heaven comes down to earth,
Whenever we are singing.
Hard working for our family,
Back bent-over from hard work;
Because of our love for them,
We put our shoulder to the wheel and don’t shirk.
Perhaps a stay-at-home…Mom,
Or one who wishes she could;
Both…a matter of the heart,
As she does even more than she should.
To lay down your life on a battlefield,
To give all that you have;
What more can be asked of that one,
They gave it all…with nothing to spare.
The home front can be a war-zone,
Policing and fire fighting;
The doctor, dentist, nurse, lab worker,
Against crime, the elements, and sickness…they’re battling.
I’ve known many in my lifetime,
Who felt they had nothing to give;
Their bodies were worn-out,
From the long and hard life…they did live.
They told me of their offering,
It was all that they could do;
On a bed wracked with pain or loneliness,
Praying for many…not just a few.
Who was blessed…by each talent,
So far-reaching…to each and everyone?
God sees and He rewards,
When He speaks, “Well done!”
